Possible errors in the system:
- Error 00288 - actuator for steering column lock (N360) - 014 defective
- Ignition cannot be switched on / steering wheel remains locked
- Vehicle will not start
- Cause: electronic components in ECU J518 for steering column lock defective.


Solution / remedy for a short time / vehicle does not have to be towed:
- Apply the brake or switch on the light
- Bridge alternative Pin1 = (Kl.15) with Pin16 = (Kl.30) on the OBD connector
- Address the ELV module J518 address word 05 via gateway ECU address word 19
- Delete error 00288 in error memory J518!
- after deleting the error memory everything works again, but only for a short time!


During the repair, the following parts in the ECU J518 are replaced:
- 1x double power relay 20A
- 3x microswitches 4A with gold-plated contacts, long service life
- 1x servomotor N360
- Software update up to date
- Functional test on the test bench
